Hi, I’m AJ.
My interest in massage therapy was piqued early when I started receiving bodywork as a high school athlete. I found that massage therapy and stretching contributed substantially to better football performance, and soon, I discovered that I had a knack for relieving tight muscles and increasing mobility.
Since completing my schooling in 2012, I have developed a style that marries intuitive massage with clinical knowledge of the body. I am able to adjust my style for each patient, allowing me to see patients with acute injuries or chronic pain, athletes who push their bodies to the limit & require maintenance for support, and anyone in between. My intuitive style allows for a gentle but targeted approach to massage by listening to the body and using as much pressure as the body can take without inducing pain. I can deliver more intense pressure when necessary for those who require it.
While employing this intuitive approach, I have discovered that each muscle, muscle group, and area of the body responds differently to the same massage technique. Thus, I practice an eclectic style, utilizing many different massage techniques in the same session, including myofascial techniques, Lymphatic, trigger point therapy, sports massage, and many others.
Practitioner/patient communication is tantamount. I encourage my patients to let me know when something feels especially tender, ask me questions about my techniques, provide feedback when massaging problem areas, bounce ideas off of me, or inquire about the source of their aches & pains. My goal is to educate & empower my patients with knowledge about where their pain is coming from and develop a treatment plan.
I live in Napa with my spouse and son. I enjoy staying active, working out, hiking, fishing, and going on adventures with my family in my free time.
